Andrew Eberspacher is a lifelong resident and farmer in the Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District. He grew up farming with his family, which sparked a lifelong passion for agriculture. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, he embraced a career in farming. “This foundation in both hands-on experience and formal education has shaped my approach to modern farming practices,” said Eberspacher.

His hobbies include Husker Football, fishing (including ice fishing), hunting, gardening, and domestic and international travel.

When asked why he serves on the NRD board, he said it was “to advocate for farmers while simultaneously supporting the well-being of our urban communities, with a deep respect for both. My mission is to ensure the sustainable stewardship of our natural resources for future generations. I strive to create a bridge between the NRD and producers, working together to establish effective practices and fair regulations that manage water quality and quantity. My goal is to develop solutions that support agricultural success while safeguarding our shared environment.”

Eberspacher wants others to know that “the work of the Upper Big Blue NRD is deeply complex, requiring diverse perspectives and expertise to address the range of environmental concerns we face. Our board is composed of individuals with different visions, which fosters meaningful discussions. We learn from each other and collaborate to find the best solutions for our communities and the environment.”

Eberspacher’s conservation priorities are rooted in adaptability and evidence-based decision-making. “I believe in learning from one another and adjusting our approaches based on real-world data. For example, soil samples provide valuable, actionable insights that guide our conservation strategies, ensuring that we protect natural resources while maintaining agricultural productivity. Building strong, trust-based relationships with farmers, agronomists, Natural Resources Districts, and other stakeholders is critical to achieving these goals. By fostering mutual respect and understanding, we can collaborate more effectively and develop solutions that balance sustainability with productivity. As a member of a multi-generational farming family, I am deeply committed to stewarding the land for future generations. Every day, I am reminded of my responsibility to both humanity and the environment, and my faith inspires me to seek solutions that preserve our natural resources for the long term.”
